Information for Speakers for CanBIC
- All invited speaker talks* are scheduled for a total time including questions of 25 minutes.
- Because we have up to 3 parallel sessions, we will keep to time to allow those wishing to change session to do so.
- The talks will be interrupted by an rudely-loud timer buzzer at 20 minutes!
- Each speaker will provide her/his talk for PowerPoint presentation using our laptop computers.
- We will not have a Mac setup.
- We do not plan to allow speakers to use their own laptop computers - however, if it is absolutely necessary for you to use your computer and you have reduced the time of your talk to account for the switching then you may be able to persuade us!
- But, please allow time before your talk to test the system and also please reduce the length of your talk to allow for switching.
- We will adhere to the 25 minute schedule, with no exceptions.
- We will ask you to copy your talk on to our USB chip the day before the session you are in. If you need more time, please speak to the help desk.
- For those speaking on the first day (Wednesday), please be prepared to upload your talk when you check-in at the Microtel Inn on the Tuesday.
- It will be very busy on the first morning and we will not have a lot of time available to help you upload your talk then.
- The conference opening session is in the Main Hall at 08:20 Wednesday morning. For more accurate times please see the Calendar of Events on this menu.
- A shuttle bus will run from the Microtel Inn and Comfort Inn at 07:00 (arr 07:15), and 07:20 am (arr 07:30) to the Stockey Centre. If you are speaking in the morning sessions or have not yet registered, please catch the 07:20 bus to the Stockey Centre to give us time to upload your Wednesday talks.. Breakfast is available in the hotels from 06:00.
- For those at the Georgian Inn - the bus will return from the Stockey Centre to the Microtel Inn via the Georgian Inn - please get on then. If you miss the bus please make your own way to the Stockey Centre (about a 10 minute drive or 25 minute walk).
- Parking is free at the Stockey Centre. But we do not want you to drink and drive in the evening when we serve alcohol- so please return your car and come back by bus in the early evening after dinner.
- The bus will travel to and from all the designated hotels (and can stop anywhere en route for other hotels, B & Bs etc. in the evenings - just request the driver to stop!)
- The poster session is Thursday evening in the Stockey Centre Foyer.
