Getting to the Conference
1. Where is Parry Sound?
Parry Sound, Ontario is 250 km due north of Toronto, or approximately 130 km north of Barrie. To drive there from Toronto and area, take Highway 400 and get off at exit 224. The Comfort Inn and the Parry Sound Inn and Suites (previously the Microtel Inn) hotels are located near this exit on Bowes Road. There is a gas station and Starbucks at the Parry Sound Inn and Suites entrance. From elsewhere in Ontario, Quebec, or nearby US states, connect to Highway 400 (just north of Toronto) from Highway 401. Mapquest coordinates here. The map expands completely to show slip roads - find Parry Sound, and choose exit 224 on Highway 400 - Bowes Road.

2. Taking the CanBIC coach on Tuesday: Toronto to Parry Sound
Booking a seat - please select on the canbic.ca site. The two coaches will depart from the Marriott Hotel at the Toronto Airport, 901 Dixon Road, Toronto, M9W 1J5 –local number 416-674-9400, as soon as possible after 4:00 and 5:00 pm on Tuesday afternoon (be aware that traffic delays are commonplace at that time of day so the departure might be delayed - we apologise.) The coaches will arrive in Parry Sound at approximately 7:30 pm. It is 250 km from Toronto to Parry Sound; the expected travel time is 2½ hours.
Please make flight arrangements accordingly or stay overnight the night before (book as a member of the CanBIC group). We have a ground floor conference room reserved for Tuesday afternoon - so you can store your bags safely until the coach leaves at 4 or 5 pm on the 23rd.
The coaches will go to the Parry Sound Inn and Suites for registration. The Comfort Inn is within walking distance.
If you have booked the coach – it is vitally important that you read and print the instructions below about meeting up with the CanBIC coach.

Instructions for finding the CanBIC coach – PLEASE PRINT
You must complete the online form that our staff will send you (please email if you have misplaced that form link
We also very strongly advise you use our Whatsapp group - even if you have never used Whatsapp on your phone - this allows you to contact us.
Airports are extremely unreliable with respect to processing times and if we do not know you are in Pearson Airport (YYZ) at the coach departure time we can not wait for you. On the other hand if you use Whatsapp you can update us with your arrival time at the Hotel.
The coach CAN NOT pick up at the airport you have to make your way to the hotel easiest is using the hotel shuttle (it goes every 30 minutes) or use a taxi/ Uber or even the Toronto city bus 1 stop to Airport/Dixon Road then 15 minutes walk..
i) VERY IMPORTANT. The CanBIC Coach WILL NOT pick you up at the actual airport. YOU MUST GO TO THE -- TORONTO AIRPORT MARRIOTT HOTEL (901 Dixon Road, Toronto, M9W 1J5) well BEFORE 5 PM using their Shuttle from both Terminal 1 and 3 at Pearson Airport (YYZ).
(ii) The coach will leave the MARRIOTT HOTEL (901 Dixon Road, Toronto, M9W 1J5 ) by the Toronto Pearson International Airport as close as possible to 5:00 pm on Tuesday.
Please arrive well before 17:00 and find our representative - Mr. Dennis Mercier Ms Yue Li. We have booked a conference room for the afternoon. There are a number of restaurants in the area as well as in the hotel itself. You may also wish to leave your bags at the hotel in our room. Please remember you must be back at the hotel by 4:30 pm.
iii) To get to the MARRIOTT HOTEL (901 Dixon Road, Toronto, M9W 1J5 ) from the Pearson Airport, you must take the Toronto Airport Marriott Hotel shuttle from the Ground Transportation Level at the airport in Terminal 1 or Terminal 3. This shuttle runs every 20-30 minutes and takes less than 10 minutes to reach the hotel. You could also take an Uber - taxis probably would not accept such a short ride unfortunately. The Toronto Transit bus (TTC -red colour single desk buses) stop at Jetliner Road at Airport Road just 1 stop - and it is about 1 km East on Airport Road to the Toronto Marriott Hotel at 901 Dixon Road - so doable! If you come from Toronto - then use the subway to Kipling, and take the 900 and get off at the Jetliner/Airport Road stop and walk for 15 mins!
AIRPORT SHUTTLE
Complimentary airport shuttle service to/from the hotel is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Once you have cleared customs and/or collected your luggage.
Complimentary 24-hour hotel shuttle runs every 25-35 minutes 4:05 am-1:59 am and on request 2 am-4 am.
Proceed to Post S5 at Terminal 1 of ground level or Post C22 at Terminal 3 of arrivals level to meet the shuttle (January 2019 details)
iv) If you are staying in Toronto the night before, please make your way to the Toronto Airport Marriott Hotel via the Toronto Subway (less than $5.00 CDN) using the Bloor Line. Take the subway to Kipling Station (that’s essentially as far west as you can go). Transfer inside the subway station (no transfer ticket required) to the Airport Express Shuttle 900 (it is a very easy transfer inside a purpose built interchange). It stops next to the Hotel Shuttle Stop in Terminal One. Wait for the 15 minute service to the hotel. Please plan on arriving at the hotel before 4:30 pm. The trip takes a long time! Or, take a Toronto Transit bus to the Jetline/Airport Road stop and walk to the hotel (as above)..
v) MARRIOTT HOTEL at TORONTO AIRPORT (YYZ) (901 Dixon Road, Toronto, M9W 1J5) Phone: +1-416-674-9400 Note the sign for the hotel. (In 2015 some people went to the wrong Marriott! Please note this is the Toronto Airport YYZ Marriott.)
vi) When you arrive at the hotel, please check in with our CanBIC committee representative.

vii) There is a restaurant at the hotel where you can eat if you are early or just walk along Dixon Road for many other restaurants.
vii) The hotel has a foyer with wireless Internet and we have a conference room available if you wish to leave your bags during the afternoon.
viii) If you arrive at the airport close to 4:25 pm (16:25) (that is late) – contact us so we wait for you! USE THE AIRPORT WiFi WHATSAPP GOUP CHAT PLEASE. As a last resort, there is WiFi at Pearson Airport (YYZ) so email Martin: 22beechavenue@gmail.com.
The CanBIC Coach will not pick you up at the airport itself. If you are really late take a taxi/Uber/TTC-900 BUS the short distance to the Toronto airport Marriott as above.
We will not pick you up at the airport.

3. If you miss the CanBIC Coach: taking the Northland Coach
If you arrive after 4:30 pm at the airport for any reason you could easily miss the CanBIC Coach. If you are coming on the CanBIC Coach - then immediately contact Martin - there is WIFI in the Terminal - we need to know you are at the airport. Tell the Immigration staff you have an urgent connection they can wave you through faster.

If you miss 5 pm then you might get to Yorkdale Mall GO Bus Terminal if you take a taxi and you can catch the Ontario Northland 8:15 pm.

Catch the GO bus to the Yorkdale Mall Terminus - leaves at 12 minutes past each hour from Pillar Q2 (East Bound) takes 20 minutes costs $6.00 paid to the driver. Catch a "34". Check Yorkdale Mall. Then buy the Ontario Northland Coach ticket at the GO Terminal.
Yorkdale is a very large Shopping Mall with many cafes if you have to wait.
You can then take the Northland public coach which travels from the downtown Toronto bus station via Yorkdale Mall (on the north side of Toronto) to Parry Sound - schedule below. Yorkdale Mall is nearest the airport, so catch the Northland at Yorkdale. It is a 30 minute GO Bus or 15 minute ($25) taxi ride from the airport. The GO Bus leaves every 30 minutes from Terminal 1 at Pearson Airport. Take Route 34 (Brampton to York Mills). The last Northland coach leaves Yorkdale Mall (GO Transit Terminal) at 8:30 pm. The Northland stops at 118 Bowes Street next to the Comfort Inn in Parry Sound. The Parry Sound Inn and Suites is across the road. If you are staying at a different hotel or a B&B, you’ll need a taxi (about $15 flat rate).

The CanBIC Coach will depart from the Parry Sound Inn and Suites and Comfort Inn shortly after at 8:00 am on Saturday. If you are staying at another location please contact us during the conference – and please arrange for a taxi to pick you up before 8:00 am. (Please note that we do not check everybody is on this coach so it is your responsibility to arrive at the pickup hotels – Parry Sound Inn and Suites or Comfort Inn – before 8 am and get on!) The coach will travel to Pearson International airport (YYZ) and drop you off at your terminal. Travel time is about 2½ hours, so we should arrive before 11:00 am. Checking in 1-2 hours early is recommended. US-bound passengers clear US Customs and Immigration in Toronto, so this adds at least 45 minutes to check in time. We recommend flights departing after 1:30 pm to be safe. Make sure you tell us if you have an earlier flight.

7. Transportation in Parry Sound
We have contracted a shuttle bus service during the morning and late afternoon/evening each day of the conference (Wednesday - Friday). You do not need a car during the conference.. Yellow school buses will drive between the three conference hotels and the Stockey Centre. The schedule will be posted in each hotel. The conference will begin between 8:30 and 9:00 am each day. We particularly encourage those with cars to drive in the morning BUT to return their cars in the afternoon and using the shuttle bus after each evening event – please don’t drink and drive! Use our school bus - when were you last on one!

If you have booked a CanBIC Coach ticket to get to Parry Sound, please make your way to the Marriott at Pearson Airport, as the coach will not drive downtown.
